This is a new construction project that we recently did. The walls were 2x6" and in order to install cellulose we had to install netting over the studs and stapled it every 1/2" to support the pressure of the installed cellulose. Once its in the wall its very stable and a darn good air sealer.
This Kingston, NY homeowner complained of cold bedrooms. The floor was only 6 inches deep and there was only 3 inches of fiberglass insulation inside. There were also boards on top of the attic floor so that it could be used for storage, with large gaps between the insulation and the flooring. These large gaps cause unnecessary air flow from the outside into the house, causing uneven temperatures between floors in the home. In the summer, your uppermost floor can become uncomfortably hot if this is the case with your attic!
Global Dwelling installed a Superdeck, comprised 4 inches of SilverGlo rigid insulation with 5 inches of dense packed cellulose below. The insulation was then covered with a durable, cleanable plywood surface, making the area better suited for storage and super insulating the floor area to keep the bedrooms warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer - another happy customer in Kingston, NY!
Crawlspace walls were uninsulated and Laura was spending her whole day loading the woodstove to stay warm. Once we properly insulated the crawlspace, the home stayed comfortable and Laura was able to spend more time enjoying her home instead of working constantly to stay warm.
